The Edible Schoolyard Yields Seed-to-Table Learning

These are life-skills that used to be taught in all households. Let's make sure as a community that our children will always know where their food has come from and how to prepare it from seed to table.

Pure Michigan Memories with Team Morley

This poster was hanging during our Michigan History Wax Museum Event at the end of the year. We asked family and friends to write their pure Michigan memories. I can't wait to hear all of the summer Michigan memories of my incoming third graders!

Catch the Lake Michigan Reading Wave!

This is a bulletin board that Team Morley had displayed near our classroom. For March is reading month, our school's theme was Ocean inspired. Since our state of Michigan is surrounded by our Great Lakes and in 3rd grade we study Michigan, I decided to keep the reading theme going Michigan style to the end of the year. I designed the bulletin board to feature Michigan places and
symbols. Thank you Mrs. Kelli Mau for helping me construct my vision!

Summer Real World Conversations with Kids

Summer experiences are also perfect opportunities to have real world conversations about our world as related to science and social studies.  Hoping that Team Morley is talking about our units of study learning times throughout the summer and beyond. Be sure to capture all of those moments and hold on to them tight.

Here is a super science site sponsored by the Association for Library Service to Children which is a division of the American Library Association.

Pure Michigan Summer!

Summer in education is a time to refresh, renew, and recharge those learning powers! It is approaching the end of July and all the beloved school supplies are making their way back to our households. We can look to the rest of summer months as an opportunity for us and our children to have more time to read about the issues we care most about and books that have been on our must read list.

Our own Brighton Library has an wonderful summer reading program.  It is worth your time to sign your reader up for the program.  Brighton Library

Also, please be sure to look at the awesome Hilton Library http://mrsadamslibrary.weebly.com/ site that Mrs. Adams, our school media specialist has made.

Happy Summer  :)
